You can initiate this after death communication with your loved one in the afterlife by a combination of self-induced contact, which is focused prayer and meditation, and a basic knowledge of the nature of the soul and the afterlife. It's a matter of respectfully asking God's permission to communicate, and then gradually developing the spiritual senses needed to detect your loved one's voice and presence.

As for the contact, there is a learning curve for both you and for your loved one in the afterlife. At first you may think that you're not getting through, but I assure you that you are. You will soon find yourself dreaming frequently about your loved one. That's because the easiest way for loved ones in the afterlife to contact you is when you're asleep, because that's when your soul isn't distracted by activities and thoughts.

In time, the contact will be easy for you, even second nature. Some folks have successful communication right from the beginning. But more often it take four to six weeks to get a "no doubt about it" in-your-face contact. The dreams should begin within the first week. These dreams are also actual contact. It's the easiest way for your loved one to contact you, and so it's usually the first contact.

To successfully self-induce contact you need to internalize two facts, and you need to focus attention on your loved one. Did you say that won't be hard since it's all you can think about now? Perfect.

The two facts you have to remember are:

1. This world and the afterlife are the same world. They're not separated at all. Your physical senses of sight, hearing, and touch act as a "veil" between you and your loved one in the afterlife. Your spiritual senses can penetrate the veil. You do this already, but you're not aware of it.

2. The only thing that dies is the body. Your loved one's sweet characteristics, memories, and thoughts are still very much alive and well. He can hear and see everything you're doing. By the way, negative characteristics don't pass through the veil... only good qualities pass through the veil.
